Learn To Speak Spanish With A CD

Filed under: Spanish Language - 31 Oct 2008

How can you learn to speak Spanish using a CD or Mp3 ? There are many ways to learn anew language, some are universal to any method that your use to learn Spanish while some are particular to using an audio course. This article will discuss these points.

The crux to learning Spanish, just like any language really, is that you dedicate time to learning it. You need to immerse yourself in every aspect of the language and culture to the extent that you reach a level where learning is not much of a chore as is actually enjoyable.

In the case of Spanish CD or Mp3's, you have to listen to them often. Every spare moment should be devoted to getting some form of Spanish audio in. So even if you don’t have the specific CD’s available, try listening to music or Spanish language radio.

Many people like to listen to CD's or Mp3 in their car. This is a good use of time as many people spend upwards of an hour each day in traffic driving to work. This is an efficient use of your time but you have to reach a comfortable balance between driving safely and giving your full attention to the Spanish audio course. Sometimes you need to give you full attention to the road or the traffic ahead so you may not be able to give your full attention to the Spanish. I would suggest you listen to Spanish audio CD’s in the car after you have listened to them a few times beforehand. With this approach you will be able to drift in an out of the dialog and still follow the lesson.

Another option if this is not for you is to listen to them while commuting to work on public transport. If you have a personal CD or MP3 player this is an ideal solution however as most audio course require you to repeat sentences aloud it may seem a bit odd to your fellow passengers on the bus or train.

You can also use the audio in the home when doing housework or whatever you are doing in the home. Have playing like you may have with the radio. Try playing it in the background over and over and you will be surprised how much you pick up even if you are not playing close attention to it,o. Your subconscious will be picking up tidbits here and there. Certainly it wouldn’t be a fast way to learn Spanish but you would learn.

Another popular way to use Spanish CD or Mp3 courses are during exercise. So you could listen to the Spanish audio in the gym or while jogging round the block. Jogging could be good as you could speak out loud although it’s not always easy to speak a run at the same time.

So the beauty of a Spanish audio course is that you can multi-task, but I would suggest that you give it your full concentration on the first few listens to really get the most out of it. After that you can multi-task.

The key is to be consistent and hear Spanish spoken everyday. Even with a little bit of instruction you will start to understand as the human brain is wired to pick up languages. Ultimately you will pick up a language with enough time and constantly hearing it spoken, it is impossible to fail.

If you learn to speak Spanish as a second language, you can develop a positive relationship with those who communicate in Spanish as their native language and are part of our population. The Hispanic population has an ever-growing influence on the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Our economy is becoming increasingly global; Spanish is currently the third most commonly spoken language. Therefore, if you learn how to communicate in Spanish, you’ll gain a number of benefits.

If you are bilingual in Spanish and English, you are much more likely to be in demand in the marketplace. If you can speak Spanish, you’ll be much better able to communicate with coworkers, employees, customers, and clients who are native Spanish speakers.

It is also becoming much more important to be able to speak Spanish with regard to business and career matters in general. Recent marketing studies have determined that the Hispanic population is the most rapidly growing portion of the consumer market. This means that businesses are scrambling to attract and accommodate those who speak Spanish.

Why is this important to you? If you learn to speak Spanish, this can enhance your career. Additionally, this need is only going to increase, because the Spanish-speaking population is continuing to grow.

Worldwide, Spanish is the first language of more than 40 million people. It’s the third most common spoken native language, behind Mandarin and Hindi. Because there is such widespread use of Spanish, and because Hispanic culture is growing globally, you can see why it’s smart to opt for Spanish as a second language.

It’s certainly true that if you can communicate in Spanish, you’ll be able to interact with people in more situations. For example, if you develop friendships or a romantic relationship with someone in a Hispanic family (or if one of your relatives does), it will be good to know how to speak Spanish. Or you might have Spanish-speaking neighbors, have Spanish-speaking employees or employers, or simply have occasions in which you are going to have to interact with those who speak Spanish during the course of a normal day. Beyond that, Hispanic communities give us many rich and flavorful foods, which means that it’s even more intelligent of you to embrace both Spanish as a second language and Spanish culture.

If you don’t have the time to enroll in a Spanish language course, you can choose to do self study at home. With these programs, you can learn Spanish as your schedule permits. Some of these courses, such as Pimsleur Spanish are only available in audio; these are good if you just need to learn to speak the language, but don’t need to learn to read the language. However, it’s likely that you’re going to want to both learn to read and speak the language. If this is true, you’re going to want to look at a more comprehensive program such as Rocket Spanish or Rosetta Stone Spanish that teaches you to both read and speak the language. Additionally, you will retain more with an interactive.program than with one that does not require interaction.
